About

Tamay taught Hannah how to make Mien embroidery in 2008, just as she taught her daughter and as her mother taught her. Tamay and Hannah sat together for three months working on one tiny piece of embroidery. The two became great friends and ever since have been working to raise awareness of the Mien skills. We want to help women to earn a sustainable living and to maintain their textile heritage, the embroidered jackets were the first step...

Tamay and Hannah have recently been joined by Lucy from Mountain Threads Textiles and Cultures of northern Vietnam. As a three way team we have been able to take the core Tamay & Me values and approach to working to other villages around Sapa. The new 'Dye Yam' collection and 'Stitch and Tie Resist' collection are examples of more recent work.
